Mayo Pride Parade has been cancelled, but all other small gatherings/events will still be taking place.

“It is with great regret that we have to cancel this Saturday’s Pride Parade in Westport. Despite stringent event planning and liaising with the local authorities, the Gardaí have today advised us that the parade cannot go ahead as previously approved and planned. All other small gatherings such as our Drag Dinners, Pride Cruise on Clew Bay, Cycles, Hikes and Yoga will still be taking place.

We understand that this is extremely disappointing for many of you planning to march on Saturday. The importance of LGBTQ+ visibility and representation in Mayo is why we exist. That visibility when we celebrate Pride sends a powerful message to all members of our community.

We have been overwhelmed with the support and positivity of the people and business community here in Westport and look forward to planning a bumper edition of Mayo Pride next year when it is safe to do so. In the meantime here is how you can still celebrate with us this weekend…

We encourage everyone who was going to take part in the parade to wear their pride colours around town on Saturday and support the many local businesses flying pride flags. If you haven’t yet signed up for our outdoor activities you can do so via the link below. Flags and Pride Merch are available from Westport Town Hall.
