Sing OutWest is more than just a choir; it is a vibrant social space where the LGBTQ+ community and our allies come together through the universal language of music. We believe that everyone has a song in them, and our rehearsals are designed to be a high point of your week, filled with harmony, humour, and heart.
Whether you are a seasoned singer or someone who only ever sings in the shower, you will find a warm welcome and a place in our choir.
Who Can Join?
Our doors are open to the entire LGBTQ+ spectrum and the allies. We pride ourselves on being a diverse, multigenerational group that reflects the rich tapestry of life in the West of Ireland.
- No Experience Necessary: You don’t need to read music or have a background in performance.
- A Social Connection: Many of our members join for the music but stay for the friendships. It is an easy way to expand your social circle in a supportive environment.
- Come As You Are: Sing with gusto or simply lend your voice to the blend; the key is to enjoy yourself fully!
How to Get Involved
Stepping into a new group can feel daunting, so we make the introduction as easy as possible. Throughout the year, we host Open Evenings where curious newcomers can sit in, listen, and get a feel for our rhythm.
There is no formal “sign-up” process or daunting interview. Just show up, meet the group, and see if the atmosphere resonates with you. Most people find that the initial nerves vanish the moment the first note is struck.
Rehearsals: The Heart of the Harmony
Our rehearsals are structured to be inclusive and easy to follow. We balance the creative work of learning new songs with plenty of “tea and talk” time.
